The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce is proud to have played a role in convincing the Federal Railroad Authority to drop its plan to construct a high speed rail bypass through Mystic. The federal government announced its decision Wednesday, saying it would instead concentrate on bringing the existing track into a state of good repair.

Chamber President Peggy Roberts testified against the bypass before the Connecticut Legislative Transportation Committee earlier this year. The Chamber also staged a letter-writing campaign opposing the Kenyon Bypass and turned out for the “No to Tier One” Rally at Olde Mistick Village.

We are so gratified that everyone’s time and effort to defeat this plan has been successful! It shows how effective we can be when we band together on issues of importance to us all.
