Special CT Maritime Festival Water Taxi Fares and Schedule
The Thames River Heritage Park will offer special fares and schedules for the hop on-hop off water taxi service on Saturday, September 9th and Sunday, September 10th, during the Connecticut Maritime Heritage Festival being held at Fort Trumbull and City Pier in New London.
The Special Fares are: $10 for adult all-day unlimited rides (reg. $15); $5 for all-day unlimited rides for children ages 4-12 and active military (reg. $10). Children 3 and under are free.
The Water Taxi will operate continuous express water taxi service between Fort Trumbull and City Pier in New London from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. It will operate continuous express water taxi service between Fort Trumbull and Fort Street Landing in Groton from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The Water Taxi will operate on a regular schedule Friday, the 8th and after 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Sunset tours will be available as scheduled. The last da of operation for 2017 is Sunday, September 17th.Go to thamesriverheritagepark.org for details.
The Thames River Heritage Park is a collection of national and historic sites along both shores of the Thames River that tell the stories that shaped our nation and our region.
The two water taxis are authentic Navy launches that were used to transport servicemen and women from larger ships to shore.
Heritage sites within easy walking distance of the water taxi stops include, in Groton, the Avery-Copp House, the Ebenezer Avery Homestead, Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park and the Subvets World War II National Memorial East and, in New London, in addition to Fort Trumbull are the Nathan Hale Schoolhouse, the Custom House Maritime Museum, the Shaw Mansion and the Hempsted Houses.
